Sleepness Nights With Wordpress
So many top bloggers complimented over the use of server-based wordpress as the platform for blogging. In fact, there is even a statistics to prove that top 100 blog earners use wordpress in contrary to Google blogspot. So, other than multiply, a free blogging platform interweaved with member network, I join the wagon too.
My personal experience – it isn’t WYSIWYG (What You See Is What Your Get) as proclaimed. It isn’t that user-friendly as that of Microsoft word. It really takes me quite a while. My experience of trying to do alignment, spacing, paragraphing, changing of font and colour with wordpress is quite a turn-off.
Still, if my mentor, Alvin Phang highly endorsed it, there must be something there that I have yet to ripe the fruit. So, I persisted… Ahem, it is not until a month plus of trial and errors, I finally start to appreciate the gems.
It then dawned on me of a metaphor shared by Jeffrey Gitomer, an infamous author of “Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude’.
You have been given a bag of cement and a bucket of water. You can either build a stumbling block (a concrete barrier), or a stepping stone (a bridge to wherever you want to go).
The choice is and always has been yours. Are you missing opportunities because you are too focused on obstacles?
Viewing in retrospect of my struggles with Wordpress, the more I was agitated and frustrated in my attempts, the slower I progressed (because I am building a wall of concrete barrier). However, when I calmed myself down and free myself from any expectations, things start to flow.
And when things flow, I started to explore into features of wordpress which I never know how to use previously. I also started to hear good sharing from my mastermind team (F4 bloggers) of how wonderful some of the plug-ins and widgets can be used to enhance one’s blog.
Now that I have used served-based wordpress as my stepping stones, my proud declaration of the top 7 irresistible benefits:
1. You have control over your own website because wordpress is reside in your own web host.
Nobody can shut your site down. (You may want to read more about it at Choosing a Web Host)
2. Password protect a post
This is especially useful when you want to block out certain blog posts to exclusive members.
3. Free templates online
The last count was 3000 templates and still adding on.
4. Video post allowed
Videos which you like from youtube can be extracted and uploaded onto your own site. You can also upload your own video creation.
5. Plug-ins
Tools that can enhance your site.
6. Easy creation of links
7. Supports categories
